Charles Read Academy is a popular 11-16 school in a beautiful village setting between the market towns of Bourne, Stamford and Grantham.
Our excellent facilities – which include a 3G floodlit sports pitch, state-of the art science laboratories, recently refurbished classrooms and small class sizes – attract parents and children from a wide geography. Part of David Ross Education Trust since 2013, the school’s performance is consistently good across the board. We have a committed and stable staff team, and there’s a strong collegiate, co-operative atmosphere.
The promotion of our current Principal to a strategic role within the Trust has created an excellent opportunity for ambitious and talented candidates to take a leadership role in this purposeful and positive setting.
Our manageable size means that our new Principal will be close to the day-to-day life of the school from the outset, and will oversee all aspects of its management and development. You’ll quickly acquire a broad and detailed understanding of how the school works, and its place in the Trust; and there are plenty of opportunities for professional development.
While we are proud of our track record of steady achievement for our children, we nonetheless want to continue our overall trajectory of improvement, and there’ll be a number of medium-term challenges in the successful applicant’s in-tray. Candidates must therefore show that they are ready to embrace not only to operational but also strategic leadership of the school; that they have the people management skills needed in a relatively flat structure; and that they possess the professional repertoire to work effectively as a key senior leader both with a dedicated governing body, and within the Trust itself.
Sound experience at Assistant / Vice Principal level is essential, and an understanding of curriculum and SEND would be a definite advantage.
